You know I look good in Paris, right? Now picture me actually LIVING in Paris, like, eating macaroons for breakfast and all.
Yes, I look better in Paris.
Apart from eating my way through 90 days, I’ll be studying French and fine arts, and working. I’ll definitely do a lot more editorial stuff and film, which is très très exciting.
Yes, it will be for only 3 months, and yes, I am still booking gigs for Spring/Summer 2012- so you’re covered ;)
The question now is: WHEN WILL YOU VISIT ME?
Au revoir,

P

Spotted: HELLO, I am an aunt!

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

A few months ago my sister Bruna found out she was pregnant. I was the first one she called to tell the news, and although I did not pick up (it was 7am!!), it meant a lot to me. She probably called me first because she knew I would FREAK OUT (of excitement) about it.
And I did. OH yes, I did! My first niece!!! I was a freaking AUNT!
Ever since then, I have been dreaming about this little girl, and I love her so much already. I have a very special bond with my sisters, they are my best friends, my examples, and my sanity. Thus, it’s impossible not to have the same special bond with any tiny human that they might bring into the world.
I decided that morning (about 8am, when I finally picked up the phone), that I would be the best aunt EVER. I would spoil them until their parents begged for mercy (muahaha), take a million pictures of them, go on dates with them, and well… be their favorite aunt.

And two weeks ago, just when I thought it couldn’t get better, my other sister (Sheila) announced that she is pregnant too. The first thing I thought?
“Good! BEST. AUNT. EVER. TIMES. TWO”
I can’t wait to hold these two tinny babies in my arms!

This past Saturday I took my sister out on a photo-date. She is 27 weeks along and glowing:

And this week I am planning her baby shower! Bruna is naming her daughter Victoria, and so I thought it would be appropriate to inspire her baby shower on Queen Victoria’s life (my favorite Queen- yes, I have a favorite queen), the victorian period, and an English tea party.
I want the day to be personal, meaningful, and très chic. Most importantly, I want my sister to feel loved. I would love to hear suggestions, so please send me your inspirations and thoughts! Here is my inspiration board:

Speaking of inspiration, I announced the winners to the “Pin it to Win it”contest on my Facebook Fanpage. Check it out!

Spotted: Fallen for film.

Friday, August 19th, 2011

I was feeling sassy yesterday and decided to play with film with NO LIGHT METER to aid me.
For the non-photographers out there, a light meter helps you determine how light/dark your subject is before you snap a picture of it- since with film you can’t preview it immediately, and take a million pictures until you get it right.
I shot everything manually, relying only on my instincts/training to get it right.

What a great exercise!
I pushed my boundaries,
I got out of my comfort zone,
I felt the rush of the unknown,
and I reminded myself once again why I love photography.

What are days for?
Days are where we live.
They come, they wake us
Time and time over.
They are to be happy in:
Where can we live but days?

(Philip Larkin, ‘Days’)

I’m reading “One Day”by David Nicholls, and I confess it’s hard to want to work and blog when I could be reading it.
I’m loving it more than just because it’s a love story, I am loving it because of the way it is told.
Every chapter starts on the same day of a different year : July 15.
You get bits and pieces of this day here and there, and a beautiful story comes together.
Good stuff !
They also made the story into a movie (the picture above), and although I know I’ll like the book better, I cannot make myself miss a film that has Jim Stuges on it.

This is me reading:

(yes, I bought the book because the kiss looked HOT)

Spotted: Red Lips in NYC/Boston

Friday, July 8th, 2011

Last weekend I went to NYC

I payed a visit to my fabulous friend and fellow photog Jennifer Sosa.

We coffee shop-hopped in Chelsea and chatted about pretty things

(I’m no coffee-drinker, but my heart melted when I saw this. I wish someone would do that to my hot cocoa)

I also met Lindsay.

Cheeky, gorgeous, Lindsay.

We became the “Sisterhood of the traveling red lipstick” for a day.

When I travel, it’s all about the F O O D.

We found this mexican food truck in a corner under the highland.
I had the best torta (shredded pork, cheese, beans, jalapeños, guacamole, and chilies), and coke.
CANE SUGAR coke, of course.

Jen got to use her Contax 645 for the first time!
It was very emotional.

Jen and I packed our tilt-shift lens and headed to Boston for a wedding.
Arriving a day before the event, we had a lot of time to play.
The day before I had found this skirt at Anthropologie for $29!!! The pictures below illustrate perfectly my joy.

Jen is the reason why I have decent pictures of me.
Silly, but decent.

The Girl Behind the Camera

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

I’ve been going through a self-discovery phase lately.
I see myself in every picture I take, little bits and pieces of me.
Because of that, I have no problem hanging images of “strangers”on my walls.
You see them. I see me.
It sounds a bit egocentric, I know. But I believe it’s only natural, like a mother looking at her child.

I then decided to go look at pictures of me- literally of me.
I was quite surprised.
I see Geoff all over them, since he took them.
In fact, I only see him.
It would be weird to hang these on the walls.
I mean, who is this girl my husband looks so tenderly at?
(and why is she half-naked in most of them?? hehe)

I guess she is the other me. The one everybody gets to see.
The girl behind the camera.
(now, really, I promise I walk around fully dressed most of the time)

Hidden Treasures- EuroTrip

Tuesday, April 19th, 2011

Don’t you love when you wear an old jacket and find a $20 bill on its pocket?

While doing some Spring cleaning on my hard drives (yes, I’m that bored), I was delighted to find some precious pictures I had totally forgotten about.
Which, clearly, is better than any $20 bill.
Some were in RAW format still- meaning, I had never even seen them!
It was quite a pleasant surprise.

When: Summer 2010
Where: Barcelona (Spain) and south of France
Who: Mr.G and I + In-laws
What: Our annual EuroTrip (it’s been a tradition for us since we first met)

These make me crave the summer, old stony streets, and kissing Mr.G in a foreign country.

Below, the loveliest doorstep I’ve ever seen. Made me want to meet whoever lives inside that house.

I have this little obsession with doors.
Not the way they look, but what they represent.
I can make up a whole story on what’s behind a door, just by looking at it.

I plan on hanging the picture below on my wall.
Not the one of the super model (BAHAHA), but the anchor one.

French kissing my little French.

My favorite puppy face in the whole world.

In-laws.

Oh summer, I miss thee.

LOVE surprises.

xoxo,
P

Spotted: Aventuras en Mexico

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Hey there lovely,

I could have spent the week behind a desk.
I could have spent the week studying for mid-terms.
I could have stayed in, watching the snow fall outside my window.

Instead, I went to Mexico.
HOT, beachy Mexico- for 7 sweet days.
Just another 29 photographer and I.
Life is fair after all.

That’s my “I’m on a boat, and I don’t even care” face, captured by talented Jennifer Sosa

Cabo and Puerto Vallarta were beautiful. Go there.
Do it.

Photog Retreat 2011 was a 7-day learning experience on a Mexican Riviera cruise.
Workshops, networking, exotic photo shoots… and an overdose of fun.

Freestyle eating made me gain a good 5 lbs.
So worth it.

This is our faux engagement shoot on the boat:

And this is me showing how versatile I am:

by Jennifer Sosa

(Meet her below- I love her)

Amy (below) was the perfect roommate for me.
I want to kill happy people in the morning, you know?
It took my husband a good 3 months to realize that he’s better off not talking to me til at least 10 a.m.
But Amy here was just like me.
Our quiet waking up and getting ready hours were a bliss.
Plus, we were all-smiles the rest of the day ;)

Priceless:

*Repeat the picture above 7X= our week.

NOT YOUR TYPICAL WORKSHOP AT ALL.
