I have a super exciting editorial shoot here in Miami tomorrow, and so to feel inspired, I spent the past hour going through Ruche’s lookbook. Yup, I’m fueled up and ready to go! DELICIOUS!

Spotted: A Winter Engagement Session (FILM edition)

Monday, December 19th, 2011

I know it’s the most wonderful time of the year when my 2-bedroom/tinny house is packed with 15 people to the point that there’s no privacy left, and I just sit in the middle of the mess with the biggest smile on my face. When I picture heaven, I picture this.
It’s cold outside, but my heart is surely the warmest it’s been in months. So, let the holidays begin!

Spotted: My Sister About to POP! (Film Edition)

Tuesday, December 13th, 2011

I hope she makes a grand entrance into this world.
I hope she is healthy and strong.
I hope she is just as beautiful as her mom. And just as kind as her dad.

I hope she’s not afraid of trying new things.
I hope she dances, laughs, and sings.

I hope she dreams big things, and I wish her no big fall.
I hope she gets here soon,
I hope to see it all.

Bruna Souza- 38 weeks

I’ve done her maternity pictures a few months ago already, but she just look so much different that it wouldn’t be fair to miss it. In fact, she looks even prettier now with her belly about to pop. I just hope it doesn’t pop this week- I’ve got finals, darling! These are all film, of course.

Spotted: A Navy, Blush, and Gold Wedding

Monday, December 12th, 2011

I woke up this morning and found a lovely surprise at  Grey Likes Weddings. Some of my images are being featured over there. How exciting!
About a month ago, I had the privilege of attending the  Shoot This Not That workshop by Summer Watkins. This workshop is for photographers who want to discuss and practice techniques for getting their work published, and it was just what I needed.
As part of the workshop, I got to shoot this styled event. I mixed film and digital, and I am in love with the results.
Everything about this shoot is impeccably fabulous, so make sure to check out the list of vendors on the bottom. They are AMAZING.

Photographers and Florists

Tuesday, December 6th, 2011

Guys, listen up.
I’ve been to tons of weddings right? I’ve seen tons of wedding related stuff, right? I have a pinterest board called “All things wedding” with like a bajilion pins, right? I sleep and breathe weddings, right?
So freaking TRUST ME when I say: you need a good florist. You need pretty flowers. Like, for real.
I’m telling you that once you get your photographer, the florist should be immediately the next person you need to book!
It doesn’t even matter at what venue your wedding will be at. A good floral design will always make your wedding look beautiful.
Have your wedding in your backyard, for goodness sake, and save up the money to invest in flowers! You won’t regret it.
And if it’s not asking too much, have flowers for your bridals too. It makes a huge difference.

I take this flower business so serious that last Saturday, I threw a bouquet together 20 minutes before heading to a bridal session, because my bride didn’t have a bouquet. I used the flowers her fiance had given her earlier that day, grabbed a few leaves from my frontyard, and made it happen.
No, this does not mean you should buy the flowers yourself and skip hiring a florists. Don’t. I’m just trying to say that it’s super important, that’s all.
Plus, I want to brag about my bouquet, cuz really- for someone who has never done this before, having 20 minutes and a few flowers and coming up with this… is pretty LEGIT.

Now, if you don’t want your photographer doing all the floral work, my all time favorite Utah floral designer is Sarah Winward of Honey of a Thousand Flowers. She is brilliant, and wish every client of mine would hire her. DO IT!

Anyone getting married/eloping/honeymooning in Paris?

Monday, December 5th, 2011

In 1 1/2 months, I’ll be in Paris. I’ll eat, breath and sleep BEAUTY.
In fact, I’m so certain that I will be bombarded with pretty things that I am tempted to order 500 rolls of film straight from the manufacturer.
One thing saddens me, however. I’ll have no wedding related gig while there. I decided to do this crazy Paris thing just recently, leaving me no time to search for peeps over there.
I can’t  think of something as wasteful  as that, can you?
I mean, sure, I’ll do plenty of editorial and personal shoots. But imagine if I could shoot a wedding?

So if you’re reading this, and by some miracle you will be getting married/eloping/honeymooning/getting engaged in Paris between January and April, DO HIT ME UP.
