Spotted: HELLO, I am an aunt!

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

A few months ago my sister Bruna found out she was pregnant. I was the first one she called to tell the news, and although I did not pick up (it was 7am!!), it meant a lot to me. She probably called me first because she knew I would FREAK OUT (of excitement) about it.
And I did. OH yes, I did! My first niece!!! I was a freaking AUNT!
Ever since then, I have been dreaming about this little girl, and I love her so much already. I have a very special bond with my sisters, they are my best friends, my examples, and my sanity. Thus, it’s impossible not to have the same special bond with any tiny human that they might bring into the world.
I decided that morning (about 8am, when I finally picked up the phone), that I would be the best aunt EVER. I would spoil them until their parents begged for mercy (muahaha), take a million pictures of them, go on dates with them, and well… be their favorite aunt.

And two weeks ago, just when I thought it couldn’t get better, my other sister (Sheila) announced that she is pregnant too. The first thing I thought?
“Good! BEST. AUNT. EVER. TIMES. TWO”
I can’t wait to hold these two tinny babies in my arms!

This past Saturday I took my sister out on a photo-date. She is 27 weeks along and glowing:

And this week I am planning her baby shower! Bruna is naming her daughter Victoria, and so I thought it would be appropriate to inspire her baby shower on Queen Victoria’s life (my favorite Queen- yes, I have a favorite queen), the victorian period, and an English tea party.
I want the day to be personal, meaningful, and très chic. Most importantly, I want my sister to feel loved. I would love to hear suggestions, so please send me your inspirations and thoughts! Here is my inspiration board:

Speaking of inspiration, I announced the winners to the “Pin it to Win it”contest on my Facebook Fanpage. Check it out!

Spotted: A Mid-Summer Night Dream Wedding

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

I couldn’t think of a better way to bid farewell to a wonderful summer than to show you this beautiful wedding.  There’s also no better way to start autumn than recently married, cozying up to your husband-trust me.
Heidi and Josh were married in SLC, on an intimate family setting. The day was warm and dreamy, a perfect fit for the lovely couple.

Their reception was held at the place he proposed.
In fact, the picture below is the EXACT SPOT.

Boys will be boys.

Heidi’s dad passed away a few years ago, so she danced her first dance will all of her SIX brothers.
It was a very touching moment.

Spotted: Marie Antoinette Inspired Bridals

Wednesday, September 21st, 2011

“ I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie Marie-Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst, but I love it the movie when she goes to Petit Trianon, I was thinking that style for bridals, if that makes sense?? “- Kait
“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Marie Antoinette happens to be my favorite movie in the world, I’m dead serious. I have watched it a million times, and I know exactly what you’re looking for. I absolutely LOVE YOU for it, too”- Me

And that’s when I knew that Kait and I were meant to be.
I have adored her ever since then, and last Saturday I shot her wedding. It was such a beautiful day!
If you remember the scene at the Petit Trianon, where Marie Antoinette (Kristen Dunst) is picking wild flowers/reading to her friends/playing with her little daughter, you know what these pictures are all about.

Complete Wedding Coverage GIVEAWAY: Pin it to Win it!!

Monday, September 12th, 2011

When my sister was getting married, I offered to help her with the planning, since I thought I had seen it all with my frequent wedding attendance record. ”Do you have a theme in mind, or some sort of imagery of how you want your day to be?”, I asked her, “Of course!”, she told me… and then forwarded a 30-page PDF to my email.
CRAZY. But you know what? Creating inspiration boards work. I learned that from her, and since then, I am an inspiration board hoarder.

And then came Pinterest. Let’s face it: we all have spent way too much time “pinning”. I can’t blame you though- like I said, I probably need an inspiration boarding rehab- so no judgment here. In fact, to make pinning/inspiration collecting even more time worthy for you (and a lot more interesting to me), I came up with the following GIVEAWAY:

THE PRIZES:

1st Place: COMPLETE WEDDING COVERAGE by Spotted Photography
This includes: Engagements, Bridals, and a full-day wedding
($3,500 + value)

2nd Place: STYLED ENGAGEMENT SESSION by Spotted Photography
This includes: the most awesome/cutest e-sesh you can think of!
($500 value)

3rd Place: AN ORIGINAL & SIGNED FINE ART PORTRAIT by Spotted Photography
This includes: a 8×10 super cute film portrait (you will pick), framed and signed + shipping
($50 value- but who knows, I might get famous and then it will be worth a whole lot more!)

THE RULES*:

1. Create a board titled “Wedding Inspiration for Spotted Photography”-> this can be done on pinterest, on your blog, or as a pdf/jpeg file using whatever software you would like.
3. Pin/create a collage with 5-10 images that portray your wedding inspiration (include a brief description on every item).
4. Send me a link to your board via my Facebook Fanpage, or an email with the file- spottedphotography{at}gmail{dot}com
5. Include a brief introduction with your groom’s/bride’s name, wedding date and the location of the event**.

I will personally check each board, looking for originality, prettiness, and coherence,  and then pick my favorite 3. The contest starts today (09/12/2011) and the winners will be announced  2 weeks from now,  on September 26, 2011.

* You must be at least 18+ to participate, and your wedding must be in Utah. Pinterest.com and facebook.com have no direct participation on this contest, and you do not have to create an account on either of these websites in order to make a submission (thus the other options). I reserve the right to exclude anyone from participation at any time. The winner will not be picked randomly, but based on merit.
** Your wedding date has to be between October 1-December 23 of 2011, or May 1-December 23 of 2012 in order for you to participate, and it is subject to availability.

I can’t wait to see what you come up with!!
Love,
P

Spotted: Goodbye, summer.

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

I love the summer, you know I do.
But FALL, oh my. Show me some leather boots, and I’m all yours.
So, coat up your summery bod, and get cozy with your new love!
Smell the pumpkin spice, vanilla, cinnamon, apples.
Dress up, go to town, and feel très chic.

Alas, fall.
